Failure mode #1 · Invisible nails

The fastener you can't see is the one that failed.

Standard galvanized nails are bare metal — once driven, they're invisible. An underdriven nail, an overdriven nail, a missed nail strip — all impossible to verify. One bad nail in a wind event and you lose the shingle. Sometimes the row above it too. LumaNail makes every install error visible in real time, before the next course covers it.

Failure mode #2 · Cracking pipe boots

The neoprene boot dies at year 7-12. Always.

NBD answers it with: GAF Master Flow Pivot Boot on Preferred & Elite

Standard neoprene pipe boots crack from UV exposure within 7-12 years. When they fail, water runs straight down the plumbing vent stack into your bathroom. The Pivot Boot is GAF's all-metal solution: ball-and-socket pivot, no rubber to UV-cook, no parts to fail. It's standard on Preferred and Elite. Standard tier ships the serviceable Roofivent iVent Pipe Flashing — also a lifetime-functionality unit, just a different design.

Failure mode #3 · Quiet exhaust failures

Your bath fan vent cap is plastic and 8 years old.

NBD answers it with: Roofivent iVent ECO (Preferred & Elite)

Standard bath/kitchen/dryer exhaust roof caps are thin plastic with a flap that warps, sticks, or breaks within a decade. The result: condensation in the attic, a mold problem nobody connects to the cause. iVent ECO is a polypropylene unit with a built-in condensation drain and a serviceable rubber gasket. It vents the appliance and drains the moisture. Both jobs.

On Elite, all three are standard equipment — that's what makes Elite, Elite. On Standard or Preferred, any of the three can be added à-la-carte if it matters to your specific situation; ask Joe at the inspection.

The Build × The Tiers

Elite is the only tier where the whole Build ships in the box.

Each component below shows up where it actually fits. The full Build — all three together — is what you get on Elite by default. Lower tiers get the components that solve the failure modes most likely on your specific house.

"Standard equipment" means it's already in the price — you don't ask for it, it's there. "À-la-carte" means it can be added to a lower tier as a line item if it matters for your specific roof.

If you're not on Elite

When à-la-carte actually makes sense.

Most homeowners on Standard or Preferred don't need the full Build — that's why Elite exists. But if one of these three situations is your situation, pulling a single component à-la-carte is the right call. Tell me at the inspection.

Scenario 01

You're on Standard, but the bath fan has leaked before.

Your existing exhaust caps are 8+ years old, the plastic is brittle, and you've already had attic moisture issues. The shingle isn't the problem — the cap is.

Scenario 02

You're on Preferred, but you live where the wind hits hard.

Open lots, unprotected ridges, or a recent neighbor lost shingles in a storm. Pivot Boot and iVent ECO are already standard on Preferred. The piece you're missing is fastener verifiability.

Scenario 03

You want all three but the budget says Standard.

Honest answer: at that point, look hard at Preferred. The math usually works out closer than you think because you're already paying for the GAF Pivot upgrade and the iVent ECO upgrade à-la-carte. Preferred bundles them at lower marginal cost.
